Messianic Bible Prophecies of Jesus: 1-15 of 117

Messianic prophecies are scattered throughout the Old Testament of the Bible. Telling the coming on the Messiah, Jesus Christ before His arrival in Bethlehem. To fully understand the Bible, you need to discover the types and shadows of what was to come.

Throughout this series of Messianic prophecies, we will see how the Old Testament connects to the New Testament of the Bible. Unlocking the Word of God, to show its full glory.

In part 1, prophecies 1 to 15 we connect, the seed,  Noah, Abraham, Isaac, nations, gentiles, blessings, Judah, broken bones, firstborn son, serpent, Jacob, prophet, and curse.

1. The seed of the woman

Old Testament Prophecy

Gen 3:15 And I will put hostility between you and the woman

and between your offspring and her offspring; he will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.

New Testament Fulfilled

Gal 4:4 But when the appropriate time had come, God sent out his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,

Heb 2:14 Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, he likewise shared in their humanity, so that through death he could destroy the one who holds the power of death (that is, the devil),

2. Through Noah’s sons

Old Testament Prophecy 

Gen 9:27 May God enlarge Japheth’s territory and numbers! May he live in the tents of Shem and may Canaan be the slave of Japheth!”

New Testament Fulfilled

Luke 6:36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

3. Seed of Abraham

Old Testament Prophecy 

Gen 12:3 I will bless those who bless you, but the one who treats you lightly I must curse, so that all the families of the earth may receive blessing through you.”

New Testament Fulfilled

Matt 1:1 This is the record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

Gal 3:8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, proclaimed the gospel to Abraham ahead of time, saying, “All the nations will be blessed in you.”

Gal 3.16 Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his descendant. Scripture does not say, “and to the descendants,” referring to many, but “and to your descendant,” referring to one, who is Christ.

4. Seed of Isaac

Old Testament Prophecy 

Gen 17:19 God said, “No, Sarah your wife is going to bear you a son, and you will name him Isaac. I will confirm my covenant with him as a perpetual covenant for his descendants after him.

New Testament Fulfilled

Rom 9:7 nor are all the children Abraham’s true descendants; rather “through Isaac will your descendants be counted.”

Heb 11:18 God had told him, “Through Isaac descendants will carry on your name,”

5. Blessing to nations

Old Testament Prophecy 

Gen 18:18 After all, Abraham will surely become a great and powerful nation, and all the nations on the earth may receive blessing through him.

New Testament Fulfilled

Gal 3:8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, proclaimed the gospel to Abraham ahead of time, saying, “All the nations will be blessed in you.”

6. The coming of Elijah

Old Testament Prophecy 

Mal 4:5-6 Look, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and terrible day of the Lord arrives. 6 He will encourage fathers and their children to return to me, so that I will not come and strike the earth with judgment.”

New Testament Fulfilled

Matt 11:14 And if you are willing to accept it, he is Elijah, who is to come.

Matt 17:10-12 The disciples asked him, “Why then do the experts in the law say that Elijah must come first?” 11 He answered, “Elijah does indeed come first and will restore all things. 12 And I tell you that Elijah has already come. Yet they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they wanted. In the same way, the Son of Man will suffer at their hands.”

7. Blessing to Gentiles

Old Testament Prophecy 

Gen 22:18 Because you have obeyed me, all the nations of the earth will pronounce blessings on one another using the name of your descendants.”

Gen 26:4 I will multiply your descendants so they will be as numerous as the stars in the sky, and I will give them all these lands. All the nations of the earth will pronounce blessings on one another using the name of your descendants.

New Testament Fulfilled

Gal 3:8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, proclaimed the gospel to Abraham ahead of time, saying, “All the nations will be blessed in you.”

Heb 6:14  saying, “Surely I will bless you greatly and multiply your descendants abundantly.”

8. Blessing through Abraham

Old Testament Prophecy 

Gen 28:14 Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west, east, north, and south. And so all the families of the earth may receive blessings through you and through your descendants.

New Testament Fulfilled

Gal 3:8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, proclaimed the gospel to Abraham ahead of time, saying, “All the nations will be blessed in you.”

Gal 3.16 Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his descendant. Scripture does not say, “and to the descendants,” referring to many, but “and to your descendant,” referring to one, who is Christ.

Heb 6:14 saying, “Surely I will bless you greatly and multiply your descendants abundantly.”

9. Of the tribe of Judah

Old Testament Prophecy 

Gen 49:10 The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs; the nations will obey him.

New Testament Fulfilled

Rev 5:5 Then one of the elders said to me, “Stop weeping! Look, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the root of David, has conquered; thus he can open the scroll and its seven seals.”

10. No bone is broken

Old Testament Prophecy 

Exod 12:46 It must be eaten in one house; you must not bring any of the meat outside the house, and you must not break a bone of it.

Num 9:12 They must not leave any of it until morning, nor break any of its bones; they must observe it in accordance with every statute of the Passover.

New Testament Fulfilled

John 19:36 For these things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled, “Not a bone of his will be broken.”

11. Blessing to the firstborn son

Old Testament Prophecy 

Exod 13:2 “Set apart to me every firstborn male—the first offspring of every womb among the Israelites, whether human or animal; it is mine.”

New Testament Fulfilled

Luke 2:23 (just as it is written in the law of the Lord, “Every firstborn male will be set apart to the Lord”),

12. The serpent in the wilderness

Old Testament Prophecy 

Num 21:8-9 The Lord said to Moses, “Make a poisonous snake and set it on a pole. When anyone who is bitten looks at it, he will live.” 9 So Moses made a bronze snake and put it on a pole, so that if a snake had bitten someone, when he looked at the bronze snake he lived.

New Testament Fulfilled

John 3:14-15 Just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.”

13. A star out of Jacob

Old Testament Prophecy 

Num 24:17-19 ‘I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not close at hand. A star will march forth out of Jacob, and a scepter will rise out of Israel. He will crush the skulls of Moab, and the heads of all the sons of Sheth. 18 Edom will be a possession, Seir, his enemy, will also be a possession; but Israel will act valiantly. 19 A ruler will be established from Jacob; he will destroy the remains of the city.’”

New Testament Fulfilled

Matt 2:2 saying, “Where is the one who is born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”

Luke 1:33 He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and his kingdom will never end.”

Luke 1.78 Because of our God’s tender mercy the dawn will break upon us from on high

Rev 22:16 “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star!”

14. As a prophet

Old Testament Prophecy 

Deut 18:15 The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you—from your fellow Israelites; you must listen to him.

Deut 18-19 I will raise up a prophet like you for them from among their fellow Israelites. I will put my words in his mouth and he will speak to them whatever I command. 19 I will personally hold responsible anyone who then pays no attention to the words that prophet speaks in my name.

New Testament Fulfilled

John 6:14 Now when the people saw the miraculous sign that Jesus performed, they began to say to one another, “This is certainly the Prophet who is to come into the world.”

John 7:40 When they heard these words, some of the crowd began to say, “This really is the Prophet!”

Acts 3:22-23 Moses said, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brothers. You must obey him in everything he tells you. 23 Every person who does not obey that prophet will be destroyed and thus removed from the people.’

15. Cursed on the tree

Old Testament Prophecy 

Deut 21:23 his body must not remain all night on the tree; instead you must make certain you bury him that same day, for the one who is left exposed on a tree is cursed by God. You must not defile your land that the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance.

New Testament Fulfilled

Gal 3:13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us (because it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”)
